Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Python and embedded Linux experience to maintain and expand software running on NVIDIA Jetson devices deployed in industrial inspection systems. This role involves managing containerized applications, hardware configuration, software releases and OTA updates, integrating devices with backend systems through MQTT and Kafka, and collaborating with electrical engineers to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions in production environments.
Responsibilities
Maintain and expand the Python and Docker software that runs on NVIDIA Jetson devices in the client's deployed inspection towers and drive-over virtual lifts.
Run the full deployment lifecycle:
initial flashing and hardware configuration, using an existing Python tool
site-specific provisioning that connects the hardware back to the client's systems
versioned deployment of containerized applications for each site and hardware configuration
Manage software versions and releases across production and experimental devices and locations, including the OTA update process
Work with two electrical engineers who source and validate components, turning their findings into deployable, updatable software, including drivers for peripherals and imaging hardware.
Build and maintain messaging between devices and backend systems through MQTT and Kafka.
Proactively identify technical needs and help prioritize the team's work.
Document how the system works and support colleagues in debugging and maintaining it
Key Requirements
7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with Python as the primary language, including production software running on hardware in the field.
Experience building and deploying software on embedded Linux computing platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson or comparable single-board computers and system-on-modules.
Hands-on Docker experience packaging, versioning and deploying containerized applications.
Strong experience of team-based version control and release management: branching strategies, resolving merge conflicts, package versioning, and supporting multiple releases across production and experimental devices at different locations.
Experience working with message brokers, specifically MQTT and Kafka (or similar like RabbitMQ).
Experience implementing or configuring Linux drivers for external peripherals and imaging hardware such as cameras.
Proven ability to work independently: finds work that needs doing, helps prioritize it, and delivers without depending on a predefined ticket list.
Clear technical documentation habits and the willingness to share knowledge, including helping peers at the same or higher level debug and maintain the system.
What We Offer
At Jobsity, we know that a positive professional experience goes beyond the role itself.
Depending on the position, client, country, and type of contract, professionals may have access to different benefits, programs, and resources designed to support their well-being, development, and remote-work experience.
These may include:
