Job Description
We are looking for a Go Backend Engineer to own projects end-to-end, building event-driven backend services and integrations between the client's systems and third-party partners. You’ll work directly with product to break down requirements, design and deliver solutions, give timelines, and escalate only when truly blocked, while also reviewing code and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers. The role requires 8+ years of backend experience, deep expertise in asynchronous systems and Kafka, and production experience with AWS, GraphQL, and Datadog.
Responsibilities
Own projects end to end, from breaking down requirements with product to design, delivery and follow-up in production
Design and build backend services and event-driven integrations between the client's systems and third-party partners
Design event schemas and data models that keep asynchronous systems reliable and consistent
Review AI-generated and peer code with a focus on correctness, maintainability, and data quality
Produce design docs and diagrams, and explain technical tradeoffs to product and non-technical stakeholders
Provide timelines and effort estimates, and escalate risks early
Switch between languages and codebases as priorities shift, including fixing urgent defects outside your primary stack
Support less senior engineers through pairing and code review
Key Requirements
8+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems
5+ years of backend development in GO and at least one more language like .NET, Node.js, or Python, plus a proven willingness to pick up the others when the work requires it.
Hands-on production experience with AWS, including Lambda, S3, EKS (Kubernetes) and CloudFront, plus infrastructure as code with Terraform or CloudFormation.
Production experience with Kafka or equivalent event streaming platforms, including partitioning strategy, consumer group scaling, and schema registries.
Hands-on experience designing and serving GraphQL APIs with Apollo or Hasura, including schema federation and resolver performance optimization.
Strong relational data modeling with production experience in PostgreSQL or MySQL and NoSQL stores such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.
Experience implementing observability with Datadog or comparable APM tooling (dashboards, alerting, SLO/SLI tracking).
Experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, including pipeline as code and deployment automation.
Practical, daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code in development workflows.
Strong system design and architecture skills, including leading design reviews and RFCs.
Experience mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
What We Offer
At Jobsity, we know that a positive professional experience goes beyond the role itself.
Depending on the position, client, country, and type of contract, professionals may have access to different benefits, programs, and resources designed to support their well-being, development, and remote-work experience.
